LIGUE 1 / Round 13: ASEC Mimosas 0 - 1 FC San Pedro :

L’ASEC domine et perd

Due to a lack of success, ASEC Mimosas lost (0-1) its late match of the 13th day of Ligue 1 against FC San Pedro, last Monday afternoon, at the Treichville Sports Park. The Yellow and Black thus miss the opportunity to finish Champions of the mid-season.
It’s the kind of game that enrages, frustrates and gives insomnia when you think about it. Making the game, wet the jersey, as would say, dominate territorially the opponent and finally lose on the smallest mark has something to hurt very badly. This is what happened to ASEC Mimosas, Monday, January 6, 2020, against the formation of FC San Pedro who was very realistic on one of its few offensives by managing to open the scoring in the 9th minute thanks to Amède Tidiane DIOMANDÉ who saw his center surprise e the goalkeeper mimosas, BAMBA Aboubacar. After this goal, the strategy of the Petrucians was to defend well. This succeeded them until the break because despite the territorial domination of the Mimosas, they will not be able to find the fault in the dense defensive curtain of San Pedro.
The second period is the same as the first. ASEC Mimosas approaches it with the firm will to turn the tide. The Yellow and Black push, accelerate, vary their game, attack from all sides. The Petrucians are bending, but they’re holding on. The entries of the young DIAKITÉ Oumar, KONATÉ Karim and ZUNON Kipré respectively in places and places of OUATTARA Kipari Mamadou, DION Sédé Junior and ZÉZÉ Serge Eric give tone to the interplay and the attack of the Mimosas. FC San Pedro is difficult, but does not give in and finally wins (0-1).
This underperformance shattered ASEC Mimosas’ dream of becoming the leader’s chair midway through Ligue 1. For in the event of a victory, Julien CHEVALIER’s group would have been mid-season champion thanks to a better differential goal. But there are still 13 more days to negotiate well. Because it’s the arrival that counts.

Ligue 1 / Round 13 / ASEC Mimosas — FC San Pedro :

Start the new year well

ASEC Mimosas has the opportunity to start the new year well in the event of a victory, Monday, January 6, 2020, against FC San Pedro, as part of the 13th day of Ligue 1. This will allow him to finish champion of the first leg ahead of Racing Club and AFAD respectively 1st and 2nd in the standings.

HISTORY

Between FC San Pedro and ASEC Mimosas, since the Rover Scouts’ rise to Ligue 1 in 2016, it’s a story of “I win the first game, you win the second”. In this game, it was the San Pedro team that finally took the lead last season after their victory (13) on the move, in the first leg, in Abidjan, on the 9th day, and then the draw (1-1) obtained at home in the return leg , on the occasion of the 22nd day. While in the first 2 sessions (2016-2017 and 2017-2018), each of the two teams had 2 wins and 2 losses. In 6 confrontations in the competition over the last 3 seasons, the Rover Scouts have won 3 and 1 draw against 2 losses. The ASEC Mimosas team will be able to turn the tide this season. With a victory on Monday pro-chain, it will restore the balance of success by atten- the outcome of the round back in San Pedro.

THE ENJEU

This last meeting of the first leg has a big challenge for the Mi-mosas who, if they win it even by the smallest brand, have the opportunity to occupy the leader’s chair thanks to a best-their differential goal. Indeed, before facing FC San Pedro, ASEC Mimosas has 21 points and a differential goal 8. The teams of the Racing Club of Abidjan and aFAD Abidjan Plateau who drew (1-1) respectively ahead of Issia Wazy and SC Gagnoa each have 24 points and 5 points. ASEC Mimosas and Shareholders will once again join forces to meet this challenge.

FC San Pedro, who, before facing ASEC Mimosas, is 2 games behind, intends to take advantage of these opportunities to get considerably closer to the podium with 23 points, if it wins its last two matches of the first leg. There will be a match next Monday between the two teams.

THE FORCES INVOLVED

ASEC Mimosas is the 3rd best ever (16 goals) behind Racing CA (18) and AFAD (17) and the best defence with 8 goals conceded when FC San Pedro, with 8 goals scored in the worst attack, but the 2nd best defense with 9 goals conceded Sese. On the face of it, ASEC Mimosas leaves with the favor of the prognosticators, but it will have to confirm this on the ground. She can afford it. If coach Julien CHEVALIER‘s players are on a good day, they can get a great win and start the new year 2020.

Editorial  :

Nice game and play well!

This Christmas season, what better slogan than aSEC Mimosas: “Children have fun”! This slogan, born from the creation of the club under the direction of one of its first coaches, Guy FABRE, allows us to address the issue of “beautiful play” and “playing well”.

How do we define these two concepts that can sometimes be re-joined, but which are often opposed?

Thus, in a cartoonish way, the fans of the beautiful game are often contrasted, those for whom the most important is the quality of the game pro-posed, licked, often makes short passes and ball possession to those for whom the most important is victory, no matter the Way. Two coaches have been opposing each other on this subject on the football world for more than 10 years with their supporters and their opinions well crossed. This is of course José MOURINHO and Pep GUARDIOLA, the first embodying a negative way of playing when the 2nd would be positive, because it is focused on attack.

What can we think of this debate and how can we get out of it while acknowledging that reality is not, as is often the case, Manichean?

The following definition seems relevant to us: “Beautiful play is something that can be seen, that is obvious, it gives people pleasure. While playing well, you don’t always see it, because it’s not always beautiful. You can play well with a defensive plan at first. You’re going to suffer, but you’re going to be organized for it, and you’re going to be more dangerous by leaving possession to the opponent. The key is to have a project, a strategy.”

Former French coach Raynald DENOUEIX to complete it: “You must never be romantic, it doesn’t mean anything! Football is about scoring goals and not taking them, there’s nothing novel about it. We often talk about spectacle, but high-level football is certainly not one of them. When we go to see a show, everything has been prepared, repeated, set to the millimeter… When we go to see a game, we have no idea what’s going to happen! It’s such complex. On the other hand, he also cannot bear the excess of pragmatism. “Some people say, “I don’t care how you play, as long as you win.” If there is no method, you cannot win. You can’t play any way, you have to have principles all the time. »

Playing well and playing a good game being better defined, let’s go back to our Ligue 1 and its realities. Since the beginning of the season, observers have been unanimous in pointing out ASEC Mimosas’ willingness to play well, based on principles of ball retention, efficiency (offensive and defensive) and collective pressing. Even though we have had three defeats since the beginning of the season, the Shareholders did not hold the players and their staff to account too much, because they were still happy to see ASEC Mimosas regain its values, its DNA. Unhappy in defeat, they remain confident in the future if we succeed in strengthening the principles of play that allowed us to have the 2nd attack and the best defense in Ligue 1 to date.

Conversely, the victory against the WAC Red Lantern on the last day on the score of 3 goals to 1 did not leave the same taste in the minds of the fans yellow and black, because they were disappointed with the lack of control displayed during this reen-against . However, what relief did we feel with these 3 points conceded after 3 defeats in a row (2 in Ligue 1 and 1 in the final of the League Cup)? Let’s agree that at this stage of the competition, after a marathon of 8 games in 30 days, the main thing was to break the negative spiral in which we were drawn. It is done and no doubt that our young team will resume, from the next game against FC San Pedro, on January 6, the path that should lead us to our 27th title.

LIGUE 1 / Day 12: ASEC Mimosas 3 - 1 Williamsville AC :

Mimosas get morale back on their toes

ASEC Mimosas returned to success on Sunday night at Treichville Sports Park, defeating the WAC, the red lantern, as part of the 12th day. A success that is good for the morale of the Yellow and Black.

This time, the Mimosas negotiated the beginning of the game by being rigorous and vigilant in between games and in defense while pressing in bulk offensively as well as defensively. The pressure that ASEC Mimosas exerts on the opponent and the speed of execution it imposes on him underminethe defense of the WAC. From the first minute, POKOU Serge snatches a ball from a defender in the axis, enters the penalty area, but crosses his shot too missing the frame. ASEC Mimosas maintains its pressure and ZEZE Serge gets down in the penalty area. The referee points to the penalty spot. SINGONE Tosséta shoots and scores (1-0; 14′). The WAC reacts on a kOUTCHE Kabirou cross at the second post which is sent back by the left post of BAMBA Aboubakar (24′). The Williamsville team doesn’t go out of its way. His midfielder DAGROU Djédjé escapes the marking of the mimosas defence, but his shot from the left at ground level is caught by BAMBA Aboubakar (37′). The Williamsville Red and White continue to push for the fault. They are close to finding it when their striker KOUTCHE Kabirou, well served in the penalty area, controls the leather and shoots, but misses the frame of the goal (42′). Half-time came on the score of 1-0 in favor of ASEC Mimosas.

On the resumption, ASEC Mimosas cornered the WAC and managed to double the mark thanks to SAKO Oumar who took a deflection of the head of ZEZE Serge Eric following a free kick well fired by POKOU Serge (64′). The WAC has pride and fights for a penalty that transforms CHENENE Jerry to reduce the score (2-1; 25′). The game comes alive. ASEC Mimosas adds to a superb BAGATE Salif bicycle on a centre from the right (86′). The Yellow and Black manage their gains well and win (3-1). This victory comes as a breath of fresh air and allows them to remain in 3rd place in the standings with 21 bridges behind the Racing Club of Abobo and AFAD who each have 23 points.

LIGUE 1 12e journée/ASEC Mimosas – Williamsville AC :

Renewing with victory

HISTORY

The Williamsville Atlhetic Club (WAC) has been a sensation in the previous three seasons. But this 4th in the Ivorian Ligue 1 hardly smiles at him. After 11 days, Williamsville’s team is in last place in the standings (14th; 5 points, 5 draws, 6 losses, 9 goals scored against 16 conceded and a goal differential -7). Should we see this as a breathlessness after three seasons full of promise? ASEC Mimosas, meanwhile, suffered two consecutive defeats against ASI abengourou (2-0; 10th day), then against its eternal rival, Africa Sports of Abidjan (1-0; 11th day), but remains on the podium (3rd; 18 points; 6; 13 goals scored against 7 cashed in).

THE ENJEU

The objective for ASEC Mimosas is to win back the title of Champion of Côte d’Ivoire. To do this, he must regain the victory against the red lantern and improve his position in the leading pack. The Williamsville AC, which is gradually drowning, is fighting for its survival in the elite. Every game is a hope for this team that they are trying to hold on to in order to get out of the relegation zone. Both teams will play their game to try to snatch the points of the match and give themselves a breath of fresh air.

THE FORCES INVOLVED

ASEC Mimosas plays well and reconciles its audience with the beautiful football that made its legend and popularity. But her results are in tatters because she suffers at times from an efficiency failure in attack. The Mimosas made another good impression on the 11th day against Africa Sports. Unfortunately, they lost (1-0) for the same reason. Will they finally find the success that has eluded them for 2 days to confirm their status as favorites in front of the red lantern? Julien CHEVALIER’s group will have to be wary of the WAC, which will fight with great energy to grab points and regain morale for the rest of the competition. We can be sure of one thing, there will be a match between the 3rd and the last of the standings. ASEC Mimosas will need its many supporters to win and win again at the Robert Champroux Stadium in Marcory on Sunday.

FINAL CUP OF THE 7th edition: USC Bassam 1 - 0 ASEC Mimosas :

Another efficiency failure that spoils the party

ASEC Mimosas did not win its first League Cup final on Wednesday night at Treichville Sports Park, against the strong USC Bassam team, which was very tight in defence and realistic in attack to win (1-0).

For this final, USC Bassam preferred to repeat the same strategy that allowed it to draw with ASEC Mimosas in the 8th day of Ligue 1: densify the defense, the midfield and proceed by counter-attacks. And it was this strategy that allowed him to light the first spark. The Bassamese team gets a corner on which the goalkeeper mimosas, BAMBA Aboubakar, with a superb tap deflects a header from MOAVÉ Vitalis over the crossbar (9′). ASEC Mimosas reacted timidly to a low shot from YESSOH Kissito deflected in the process, but which was easily controlled by goalkeeper KONÉ Mamadou (17′). Faced with a very strengthened defense of USC Bassam, ASEC Mimosas patiently seeks and finds a flaw on a counterattack. SINGONÉ Tosséta offers a caviar to YESSOH Kissito in the back of the opposing defense, but the latter sees his strike from the left repelled by goalkeeper KONÉ Mamadou (31′). 2 minutes later, USC Bassam opened the scoring on a corner (33′). On the action, the goalkeeper Mimosas, BAMBA Aboubakar, is hindered in his exit and this benefits the second post to DIARRASSOUBA Nabyl which gives the advantage to the Islanders (1-0). The pause comes on this score.

On the resumption, the Shareholders push their team. Julien CHEVALIER’s players are fighting to try to equalize. USC Bassam’s lead did not open the game any more than they did in the first half. In the face of USC Bassam’s ultra-strengthened defense, only technical solutions can allow ASEC Mimosas to equalize. That’s what SINGONÉ Tosséta almost did when he punctured the opposing defence to go and fail on the goalkeeper (74′). ASEC Mimosas still has a golden opportunity to equalize when DIAKITE Oumar plays the opposing defense and serves royally YESSOH Kissito whose power-losing strike is picked up by KONÉ Mamadou (89′). The score will remain there and USC Bassam wins the 7th edition of the League Cup.

Round 11 of Ligue 1/ Africa Sports 1 - 0 ASEC Mimosas :

Africa wins the first round

The first derby (Africa Sports – ASEC Mimosas) of the season kept all its promises of mobilization and great shock and ended with the short victory (1-0) of Africa Sports, thanks to a goal scored on penalty. It was this afternoon, at the FHB Stadium, during the 11th day of Ligue 1. A bad operation for the Mimosas who are now 5 lengths behind the current leader, AFAD.

The beginnings of the defeat for ASEC Mimosas were already announced as soon as the referee kicked off. Captain ABLAKOR Yao Yves was injured after a few seconds of play. He was immediately replaced by the young ZEZé Serge Eric. The match is engaged on a hellish tempo. Africa Sports missed the opening score in the 17th minutes, with an attempt by TRAORÉ Vierra. The Mimosas reply comes in the 32nd min on a free kick executed by SINGONÉ Claude. Unfortunately, the ball shaves the crossbar. The match is very fast but both teams start at the break on the scoreless and blank.
The second period is even more intense. ASEC Mimosas is more verve and gets a great opportunity in the 56th min. POKOU N’Guessan intercepts a ball in midfield and follows up with a strike caught in difficulty and in two stages by the goalkeeper of Africa Sports. The Yellow and Black came back in the 60th minutes, on a center of SAMAKÉ Gaoussou, taken over by DION Sédé Junior (entered in place of BAGATÉ Salif) who sees his attempt passed out of the frame. ASEC Mimosas dominated but conceded a penalty in the 65th minutes, following a counter-attack. The kick stopped in converted by DIALLO Ousmane who opens the scoring for Africa Sports (1-0). ASEC Mimosas then multiple new offensives. In the 71st mins, DION Sédé serves beautifully in his race Komlan AGBEGNIADAN. The Togolese’s strike is unfortunately countered by a defensive return. ASEC Mimosas is willing to do so but is annoyed by a resolutely inward-looking Formation of Africa Sports, which is now only counter-attacking. Africa Sports maintains its advantage by all means and gets the win of the game to place temporarily at the foot of the podium, while ASEC Mimosas sees its place on the podium threatened. The Mimosas will soon have to get back to winning ways, against the WAC, on the 13th day. But before that, we’ll have to refuel this Wednesday, December 18 against USC Bassam, in the final of the League Cup.
