Round 11 of Ligue 1/ Africa Sports 1 - 0 ASEC Mimosas :

Africa wins the first round

The first derby (Africa Sports – ASEC Mimosas) of the season kept all its promises of mobilization and great shock and ended with the short victory (1-0) of Africa Sports, thanks to a goal scored on penalty. It was this afternoon, at the FHB Stadium, during the 11th day of Ligue 1. A bad operation for the Mimosas who are now 5 lengths behind the current leader, AFAD.

The beginnings of the defeat for ASEC Mimosas were already announced as soon as the referee kicked off. Captain ABLAKOR Yao Yves was injured after a few seconds of play. He was immediately replaced by the young ZEZé Serge Eric. The match is engaged on a hellish tempo. Africa Sports missed the opening score in the 17th minutes, with an attempt by TRAORÉ Vierra. The Mimosas reply comes in the 32nd min on a free kick executed by SINGONÉ Claude. Unfortunately, the ball shaves the crossbar. The match is very fast but both teams start at the break on the scoreless and blank.
The second period is even more intense. ASEC Mimosas is more verve and gets a great opportunity in the 56th min. POKOU N’Guessan intercepts a ball in midfield and follows up with a strike caught in difficulty and in two stages by the goalkeeper of Africa Sports. The Yellow and Black came back in the 60th minutes, on a center of SAMAKÉ Gaoussou, taken over by DION Sédé Junior (entered in place of BAGATÉ Salif) who sees his attempt passed out of the frame. ASEC Mimosas dominated but conceded a penalty in the 65th minutes, following a counter-attack. The kick stopped in converted by DIALLO Ousmane who opens the scoring for Africa Sports (1-0). ASEC Mimosas then multiple new offensives. In the 71st mins, DION Sédé serves beautifully in his race Komlan AGBEGNIADAN. The Togolese’s strike is unfortunately countered by a defensive return. ASEC Mimosas is willing to do so but is annoyed by a resolutely inward-looking Formation of Africa Sports, which is now only counter-attacking. Africa Sports maintains its advantage by all means and gets the win of the game to place temporarily at the foot of the podium, while ASEC Mimosas sees its place on the podium threatened. The Mimosas will soon have to get back to winning ways, against the WAC, on the 13th day. But before that, we’ll have to refuel this Wednesday, December 18 against USC Bassam, in the final of the League Cup.
